Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Kindergarten B! This will be an exciting year of learning for all of our students. Kindergarten marks the beginning of your child’s formal academic education, and it will prove to be a milestone in your child’s holistic development.  Each day your child will engage in dynamic experiences in reading and writing, mathematics, religion, science, and social studies. Your child will also participate in special classes in art and music, Spanish language classes, gym, and technology class. Most importantly, your child will be part of a class community that celebrates each person as a precious and unique child of God, and encourages cooperation, compassion, and respect for all. I look forward to being a part of your child’s educational experience this school year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Marinelli

Dear Parents,

This week we will learn to identify key details in informational texts in ELA. We will also practice our spelling/sight words, and will include them in our independent writing assignments. In science we will learn about the five senses. In math we will learn to identify the position of objects. In social studies we will continue to learn about communities and community helpers. In religion we will explore ways we can celebrate God’s love every day, in Ordinary Time. On Friday we will dress up as our favorite book characters! There will not be a spelling test this Friday.

   Important Announcements for this week:

  1. Please note that you will be receiving emails to join our Kindergarten Google Classrooms in each subject in the event that schools have a remote learning period in the future. School is open and in session, and the invitation is a test run to make sure all systems are up and running. Please except the invites and make sure you are able to log into your child’s school email.
  2. This Friday is Dress Up as Your Favorite Character Day! I’m so excited to see your children in costume!
  3. We have a half day dismissal on Friday; our class will dismiss at 11:25.
  4. I want to thank so many of you for your thoughtfulness and generosity in wanting to donate activities or party bags for the children for Halloween. Under normal circumstances this would be so welcome, and I truly appreciate all you want to do for the children. We received guidelines of the strict protocols that are in place in our Catholic schools, and we are unable to accept party bags, craft items, or gifts for the students to distribute to their peers. Thank you so much for understanding.
  5. Please be sure to check your child’s pencil case each night to make sure pencils are sharpened, your child has at least the basic crayons (red, yellow, blue, orange, green, purple, black, brown), scissors, and a working glue stick. (The children now keep their dry erase markers in a separate Ziplock bag with their workbooks.) Thank you for your help!

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Marinelli
