Dear Parents,

During the past two weeks, our ELA program has focused on essential questions about what makes each person unique, and what makes each family special. This week we will be working on a unit in ELA that focuses on the essential question, “What can I do?” We will be reading related stories and informational texts, and working on writing projects that answer these questions. In social studies, we will continue this topic, and talk about how we are all connected in our family, neighborhood, and world communities. In religion, we are thanking God for His gifts, and we will focus on the Genesis story of how God made the land. We are also celebrating the Feast of St. Francis (October 4th), and the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7th). In science, we will learn about land formations and biomes. In math, we are beginning a new unit on geometry and patterns and will focus on 2D and 3D shapes. Please find the weekly newsletter and homework assignments attached below.

Dear Students and Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Kindergarten! My name is Mrs. Savaille, and I am so happy to teach Kindergarten this year at St. Helens Catholic Academy. This school year will be an exciting year of learning to read and write, exploring math concepts, and engaging in social studies and science projects. Kindergarten marks the beginning of your child’s formal academic education, and it will prove to be a milestone in your child’s holistic development.  Each day your child will engage in dynamic experiences in reading and writing, mathematics, religion, science, and social studies. Your child will also participate in special classes in art and music, Spanish language classes, gym, and technology class. Most importantly, your child will be part of a class community that celebrates each person as a precious and unique child of God and encourages cooperation, compassion, and respect for all. I look forward to being a part of your child’s educational experience this school year!

with regards,

Mrs. Savaille
