We are already into the third month of the New Year, and spring is almost here! In Religion, the students will be able to discuss what happens on Ash Wednesday, and where the ashes come from. We will also discuss what we are supposed to do during Lent and why. We will also learn about St.Patrick and the history of St.Patrick’s Day. In Math, we will focus on number 15, as well as review numbers 1-15. We will continue to practice counting to 20 and above, build counting and number skills. We will also continue to practice one to one number correspondence. We will be learning letters O, P, Q, and R. We will identify objects that begin with these letters. We will also be doing exciting Science experiments throughout the month of March, as well as Arts and Crafts projects. At the end of March, we will be discussing the change of weather from winter to spring. We have already discussed the terminology, “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” Everyday in March we will observe the weather and document it.

Even though February is the shortest month of the year we have so much going on! It is National Children’s Dental Health Month. We will discuss the benefits of good oral health. The students will learn letters L-O this month. We will create picture webs in class for each letter to practice each letter sound.
In Religion, the students will learn about St.Valentine. Our Valentine curriculum will feature many art explorations using theme colors and heart shapes to decorate our classrom. We will also continue with winter related Art and Craft projects. The students will learn about animals that live in the Arctic such as penguins, walrus’s, and polar bears.
In Math, the students will be able to identify what a pattern is and predict what should come next in patterns. Students will be able to create an AB pattern. The students will be introduced to Measurement. They will explore with uni-fix cubes to create long and short lengths. The children will be provided with many opportunities to order objects by size. They will experiment with real objects to help them understand measurement concepts. We will focus on numbers 15 and 16. The shapes we will focus on will be a diamond, trapezoid, and a heart.
February is Community Helper Month.In Social Studies, the students will learn about some of the different types of helpers in our community. President’s Day is also in February and is a day to celebrate the leaders of our country and learn a little about our United States history. Our Circle Time is such a great time for children to learn the social skills of being togteher as a large group. We will discuss what the president does and explain briefly his job. As the season changed and the weather is getting colder, the students will begin learning about winter. In Science, the students will begin learning about hibernation. They will learn what hibernation means and which animals hibernate.The students will also learn why some animals hibernate and why food becomes scarce.
In Social Studies, the students will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The students will learn about King’s hopes for America. The students will learn about his efforts to create equal rights for all Americans.
We will continue learning letter sounds, as well as letter and number recognition. This month we will focus on letters “H-K.” We will focus on numbers 10-13 this month. We will also begin shapes in Math. We will also continue creating Art and Craft projects! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I can not believe the end of the year is quickly approcahing. This month as we are very excited for Christmas, not only will the student’s complete fun Christmas Art and Craft projects, the students will learn about Advent. The children will learn the story of Jesus’ birth chronologically through the reading of Scripture.
We will continue learning letter sounds, as well as letter and number recognition. This month we will focus on letters “F” “G” and “H.” We will focus on numbers 10-13 this month. During Science we will continue to engage in many exciting experiments. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
