Welcome to Mrs. Viola’s class page!
Happy December…the busiest & most merry time of the year. This month will be filled with fun, learning, and getting read for the a arrival of baby Jesus. We will be learning about Advent, discussing the Birth of Jesus, and making artwork to hang in our homes for the holiday.
Our pattern & matching skills, and letter sounds are reviewed on a daily basis. We will be up to the letter I by Christmas break, and are holding pencils and crayons nicely. The year is moving quickly, please make sure to take the time out to read to your children and promote the beginning letter sounds. I am excited to hear all about the family traditions, presents, and holiday joy this month has to offer. I wish your families the best of the New Year, and a wonderful Christmas. Thank you for all that you do with your children. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful class this year.
Happy November! During this month we have a lot to learn! We will focus on the season change, meaning of Thanksgiving, and understanding Jesus. I have been working on prayers, The Pledge of Allegiance, as well as some various holiday songs each day.
Are Scarecrows real? Why are they used? We will discuss scarecrows and why farmers need them in the fall growing season. The class will also make a scarecrow and their own individual Thanksgiving decorations.
It is hard to believe that the children have been in school for a month. During the month of October your child will experience exciting learning activities. We will be focusing on pumpkins. They will learn the life-cycle of a pumpkin and the difference parts of the fruit. We will also engage in a pumpkin investigation. We will describe hoe a pumpkin looks and feels on the inside, as well as the outside.
During Religion class, the children will be learning about God’s gifts and how he is the maker of all things. They will learn prayers, how to give thanks the meaning of The Our Father. During fire prevention week they will be learning fire safety rules. They will also learn about firefighters and their jobs in our community. We are looking forward to a very exciting month.
I would like to welcome all families to St. Helen Catholic Academy. This year promises to be full of new learning experiences for our children beginning with getting to know one another, as well as their classrooms. We will begin with the “All about me theme” and discuss our weather, name recognition, and do the pledge of allegiance each morning. The students will cut, paste and paint in art and hold crayons the proper way. In math we will begin with lines (curves, zig zags), and the number zero. Later in the month, I will begin with the letter “A” and help the students hear the letter sound in different words. We will watch our weather change as fall approaches and collect leaves to cut, paste, & examine I will collect their fingerprints and remind them they are all special and made by God. Our fingerprints are unique just as we are!
I hope you have a wonderful day and please contact me with any concerns, questions, or ideas!
