May News

Dear Parents,

Our school year is almost finished & the students will be off to Pre K-4 in the fall.  The curriculum for the month will revolve around finishing our unit on growing.  In Science, the children have learned what plants need to survive and the parts of a plant.  The caterpillars are on their way and we cannot wait to watch them hatch.  Art will consist of Mothers Day projects, flower face creations, and painting both caterpillars and butterflies.  Next, we will learn about the life cycle of a plant.  We will also plant our own seeds and observe them as they grow.

We will focus on letters R-V this month.  In Math, students will be able to recognize numbers to 20 and be able to locate them up to 10.  We will focus on celebrations such as, Cinco De Mayo and Memorial Day.  In Religion, the students will be learning the “Hail Mary”, and we will be dedicating the month of May to honoring Mary.  The students will be able to identify that Mary is the Mother of the Church and describe how we honor Mary as the mother of Jesus.

Be Well,

Mrs. Viola

April Newsletter

Dear Parents,
Happy Spring!  April showers bring May flowers and Pre-k-3 is ready to watch them grow.  We will be focusing on our environment and the changes we see each day.  April is a very important month consisting of both Lent and Easter.  The students will be creating various beautiful Easter projects to decorate their home for the coming of Easter Sunday.  We will discuss fruits and vegetables, turn our center into a farm stand, and paint with apples.  The fruit salad will be delicious especially since it is made with the love of our students.
Number comprehension is very important.  I will reteach numbers 1-10 and work with the children to match the actual number with the same amount of objects.  We will use cubes and fruit to model.  During center time we will work with shape bean bags, sorting cubes, and make play-doh for hands on fun.  Please email me if you have any questions.
Be Well,
Mrs. Viola

March Newsletter

Dear Parents,Our school year is over half over and the students will be off to Pre K-4 in the fall.  The curriculum for the month will revolve around finishing our unit on polar animals and camouflage.  We have discussed March coming in like a lion and out like a lamb!  We are hoping to feel spring weather sometime soon.  I will be working with the children up until the letter Q this month and the number 9 will be comprehended.  In Religion we will be continuing with the theme of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph being a family just as ours.  Each family has to compromise and make sacrifices and the Holy Family is no different.  God made us all different, but we are all full of the same love in our hearts.  Shape sorting has been fun and the children have been finding various shapes around the classroom on a daily basis.  We are painting and using shaving cream to make shapes, and our written work is outstanding!

Be Well,

Mrs. Viola

Dear Parents,

Dental Health Month, Valentines Day, The 7 days of creation, and the 100th day of school are just a handful of things we will be covering this month!  The dentist will come to visit our classroom and teach the students about the importance of healthy snacks and brushing their  teeth.  Letters k-n will be covered, and numbers up until 8 to be both written and comprehended.

We will create beautiful art projects, and learn about the role of our President.  We will vote on our favorite snack, color, and the children will hang their flag projects around our room for the school to enjoy!
