I wish to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Edward Finan, and I am the new Spanish teacher (Grades 5-8) at Saint Helen Catholic Academy. As per the directive from the Diocese of Brooklyn Education Office, I will be teaching the Spanish classes remotely until further notice. Although I am not physically in the building to teach, I have felt very welcomed by administration, teachers, and students. Saint Helen Catholic Academy is truly a special place. I knew that from the very first time I walked in the building.
Once students have their school iPads, they will be “invited” to join the Spanish Google Classroom. On this website, I will place class notes, assignments, and tests/quizzes for the students. These are very difficult times in our nation’s history, and I am so impressed and proud to see that the Saint Helen Catholic Academy students are rising to the occasion. I have met with each of the grade levels twice thus far, and they were cooperative, engaged in learning, and very respectful. They even laugh at my jokes! Parents, you should be very proud of your children, as I’m sure that you are!
I welcome questions and comments from both students and parents. Please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
This school year will no doubt be challenging. If we work together, it will also be rewarding. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the wonderful Family of Saint Helen’s. Please stay safe, and remain positive. Throughout this time, I am reminded of the words of a very dear friend of mine: “Even before you had the problem, God had the solution!” Let our faith in God be strong, as He is always with us!
2020-2021 will be a wonderful school year!
